NH Meet of Champions Wrap
Some fine performances out there in Oyster River!
Once again, a new State and School Record in the 4x100m. No more 42s. The state record is now 41.92s, with the Astros the only team in state history to dip under 42s. Not bad, boys, not bad. Give it up for Travis Cavallo, Winston George, Elijah Roberts, and Jamie Isaac.
A conversation with a crystal ball before this season:
Ball: Sarah Rzasa, you will be a 2025 state champion and hold the No. 2 All-Time spot in Astro history.
Sarah: Hell, yeah, what’s my time
Ball: One ninetee—-wait, time?
Congratulations to Sarah Rzasa on her first place Meet of Champions finish in the JAVELIN with her launch of 119′-10″.
John Child brings home a 2nd place medal in the 110m HH (15.05). Gavin Edgecomb finishes up a fine NH sophomore hurdling career, getting new PRs of 40.33 (6th) in the 300m IH and 15.33 (4th) in the 110m HH.
Jamie Trask finishes her NH career with a fine 2nd place in the discus and a toss of 113′-5″. Jamie and her sister Avery also took home medals in the shot put, a 6th and a 5th.
Nora Brayall was close on her PR with a 12.70 100m in 5th place.
Jason Robie is just a ma-cheen in the 1600m, taking 3rd with a PR 4:22.18. Trainor Mailloux picks up a 4th place 3200m time and Oscar D’Amelio a PR 9:45.07 in 6th.
Nicole Blake brings another PR to the 800m, solidifying her hold on the No. 3 junior spot with a 2:20.05 and a 3rd place finish.
Abby Stienecker, not quite done with the 300m IH yet with a PR 47.70 atop the sophomore leader board and a 5th place.
Congrats to senior Naima Elmera, going out with a bang in __ place and a triple jump PR 34′-10.50″.
Frosh Rebecca Osanya got even closer to that barrier breaking time in the 400m with her PR 1:00.04 and a 6th place medal. She moves past Macy Graves ’21 into the No. 2 freshman position.
And I’m glad to get in one more shout out to Gabby “PR” Bedard with her 5:22.47 1600m.
That’s a LOT of advancers to New England, so more to come!
